HARDSCAPE & LANDSCAPING ACCESSORIES
Now that you’ve established the type of project you’ll be working on, let’s get some help with the accessories. Kane County Landscape Material & Supply, Inc. has everything you need to get the job done! Whether you installing a patio or just re-mulching here are some helpful hints on accessories and their uses.
Paver Edging (flexible, rigid, steel), all of these materials are necessary to hold in your pavers and keep them from drifting. If the area you are installing has straight lines, you would use the rigid edging. Curvy lines use the flexible edging. Steel edging is mostly reserved for industrial areas. Steel Spikes are used to keep the Flexible and Rigid Paver edging in place.
Other paving items such as Polymeric Sand, Adhesive and Paving Sealer are items that should be used with gentle hand. Polymeric Sand is an alternative to coarse sand used in the joints of the pavers. Polymeric Sand should be applied carefully and swept in joints completely before the watering process. Failure to do so can result in pavers with sandy tops!
Paver Adhesive is used to glue or adhere pavers onto stoop or step areas. Only a thin layer need be applied.
Paving Sealer is used to seal the pavers and protect them from dirt, oil and grime. A Sealer is not necessary to use, but is a personal preference. Using a Sealer will also make the color of the pavers appear more vivid. It all depends of the look you wish to create.
Ever wonder what they use Landscape Fabric for? Landscape Fabric is used for several things. Weed control – laying fabric down in your flowerbeds before you plant will help ensure weed control. Using fabric before you use Decorative gravel will also ensure weed control. Landscape Staples will keep your fabric in place. Plastic Landscape Edging can be used to outline your flower beds and will aid in keeping Decorative Gravel in it’s place and prevent traveling.
Erosion Control Blankets, Straw Blankets and Straw Bales are used for seeding. Whether seeding or reseeding an area, all of these products will help. Put down seed first, then apply the Erosion Control or Straw Blankets. Grass will grow through the blankets. Use staples to secure blankets. Straw can also be used as a form of coverage. All of these items will prevent birds from eating your newly seeded lawn!
